Hive Developments is an urban planning and community outreach consultancy based in Calgary, Alberta.
We work with clients through the planning process to help achieve successful outcomes for the client and communities. Our team offers expertise in land use redesignations, facilitating permits and community outreach. We are strategists and we are organizers, helping clients and communities through what can be a complicated planning process. We are always enthusiastic to begin our next project and are particularity interested in ensuring all stakeholders collectively work together to incrementally create a better city.

Lourdes Juan, BGS, M.E.Des, MCIP, RPP
Founder & CEO
Lourdes is an Urban Planner, entrepreneur, and community mobilizer. She has been recognized as Top 40 Under 40 in Avenue Magazine, received the Culbert Family Philanthropy Award from the United Way, one of CBC’s Top 10 Changemakers, and awarded the L’Oreal Paris’ Women of Worth Award, and as a Distinguished Graduate from the University of Calgary. Alfred Gomez, BA
Alfred holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the University of Calgary. He is also pursuing a Master of Landscape Architecture at the University of Calgary.
His interest in a multi-disciplinary approach in urban design and architecture is matched by his ability to ensure projects are completed in a collaborative manner. As a Project Coordinator with Hive Developments, he offers clients great experience and knowledge in municipal land development and permit applications.
Srimal Ranasinghe, BA, M.E.Des.
Srimal holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Environmental Design from the University of Calgary. His graduate research involved proposing a framework for trust-building engagement processes that effectively connect with marginalized communities. Working alongside diverse groups, he has experience with facilitating engagement processes as part of larger community development efforts in various communities around Canada. Srimal is also Sustainable Calgary’s community lead, and a researcher with the University of Calgary’s makeCalgary initiative.
Intern, Urban Planning Student
Aamani is working towards a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Planning from the University of Waterloo. With a wide range of specializations to choose from, she has found her interests lie in the fields of Urban Design and Land Development. In the role of Intern at Hive Developments, she has been able to apply her academic knowledge in the professional field, helping conduct community engagement, conducting research on the current urban planning climate, and fulfilling planning applications.
Darany is the Executive Administrator for Hive Developments, Soma Hammam and Spa, and Fresh Routes, and the VP of IDEA and Administration at the Leftovers Foundation. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Calgary where she conducted an Honour’s research study titled “The Survivance of Indigenous Youth Runaways”. Now Darany’s energy is focused on the topics of food justice, the creation of inclusive and equitable workspaces, and bringing that energy to administrative and Human Resources support for her teams.
